Psalms 16:4
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god.
Things might not be as good as they should; as well as they would; or as right as they might be in our lives if we neglect and ignore God. Or persist to reject our Heavenly Father. He is a jealous God and will have no other gods before him.
Today we are worshiping idols. We've got more praise for games, gadgets and movies, athletes and entertainers. Do you think they would be prepared to pay your bills if you loose your job. We get no birthday cards from them. In fact rarely do we even know them. They could honestly care less about any crisis that might arise in our lives.
And yet our Heavenly Father who can move mountains for us and divide the ocean that stands between us and His good and perfect will -- do we often ignore. And deny Him the praise He is due. Until we find our backs against the Red Sea and the enemy fast approaching.
Identify the idols in your life. Its easy -- what are you thinking and talking about throughout your day aside from your immediate family members. Now compare that to the times you think about, talk about and talk to God.
Take time to cultivate a relationship with your Heavenly Father. He does require your praise and thanksgiving. And there's much to praise and thank Him for. You don't want to get to the pearly gates and hear, "Depart from me, I never knew you."
.....Until we find our backs against the Red Sea and the enemy fast approaching.
How very true this is! In praise and thanks for what we have, we find Him and all that we shall ever need. Oh that we should remain lost in His love, our backs to idols, our eyes upon Him. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, as meaningful as always.
"My Lord and My God." Nothing but you, Oh Jesus. In God we have everything we need. "Love the Lord your God with all your mind, heart, soul, and strength." Why do we forget what counts complete?
