He that is without sin among you let him first cast a stone-John 8:7 KJV
I don't like him because he's a liar. I don't like her because she gossips. I especially don't like him because he's hurt my feelings. I'm guilty of making all of those statements.
When the woman who had been caught sleeping with a man that wasn't her husband was exposed (verse 5) her neighbors and peers wanted to stone her. After their wishes were presented to Jesus (verse 6), He was quick to ask-who of you can pick up the first stone? What Jesus was really saying was who of you can condemn this woman for doing something wrong because you've NEVER done anything wrong in your entire life. Since not one of them could be proven right by Jesus' words no stones were thrown.
It's easy for us to cut others out or delete them from our lives because we don't agree with something that they've done, especially if we've been hurt during the process. God tell us to not to pick on people, jump on their failures, or criticize their faults (Matthew 7:1-TM) and also to remove the plank from our own eyes before we attempt to remove the sawdust from someone else's (Luke 6:42 NIV). Although they may have shown bad judgment we don't automatically get the right to treat them in a way that is opposite of what God has instilled in us.
So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is sums up-Matthew 7:12 AB
