Conviction means correction
It's how I discipline you;
When your heart feels you need to repent
That's Me telling you to
I'm not like an earthly father
Who corrects his child physically;
I don't take away something you enjoy
Rather, I correct you spiritually
Have you ever did or said something
That hurt a family member or friend?
I caused you to feel sorry
I didn't want your relationship to end
That feeling became a heavy burden
Conviction gets worse when you ignore;
I kept telling you to apologize
Until you couldn't take it anymore
I correct My children in their spirit
They'll feel unsettled, bothered, or sad;
But I won't punish when you sin
As from an earthly dad
