Less Than Perfect

Less Than Perfect

I pray that you’ll always be just perfect
for as long as you shall live
And may you never do anything wrong
that others can’t forgive

May all you ways be forever righteous
not one error, nor mistake
May your conscience remain, steadily clear
and another’s heart you never break

When the good Lord looks down on you
and not one transgression, see
And then I guess that will surely mean
you’re more perfect than me

Cause you see… many times I have failed
my mistakes have been many
When I see some heartaches, I left behind
regrets…. yes, I have plenty

Some of which I’ve brought upon myself
others came, from left field
There are a few wounds still open and raw
others… my Lord has healed

There are days I’d like to live over again
many I’d change, from the start
I’d remove all the pain and bitterness
that now plague, other’s heart

So if you’re living righteous and mighty
without a blemish… or regret
Remember the rest of us are just human
and owe the Lord, an enormous debt

It’s really not all bad….. being mere human
when we err, the Lord will forgive
They, who continually condemns another
is too bound…. to righteously live

I hope I'm right in my interpretation of this poem. To me it seems that you have been wronged by a friend, a friend who has thrown your faults at you, but sees no fault in himself/herself. There are many people like that. I've been hurt this way. Just recently someone threw a fault at me. Yes, I was guilty. But it hurt, because that same person had the same fault, but couldn't see it....When we confess our sins to Jesus, our faults are covered by His blood. HE can't see them. They are gone. Yes, we are certainly less than perfect. But God sees us a perfect when we ask Jesus to put our sins under the blood...Blessings! Thanks for sharing... And thanks for your comment on my recent article. ... Helen
