Next to Jesus, my favorite subject is FAITH.
I'll be 82 on July 20th and as I look back on a life of FAITH,
I realize that truly 'FAITH is the Victory that overcomes the world'.
There have been valleys as well as mountain tops, but FAITH in God has helped me in both! I have found that 'according to your FAITH....be it unto you'.
This paper will share favorite Scriptures on FAITH or statements that speak of Victory in the FAITH-life. There is no satisfactory answer available to us apart from FAITH.
Our belief is not FAITH without evidence, but commitment without reservation!
~ FAITH believes the impossible and sees the incredible!
~ FAITH is taking God at His word!
~ FAITH always sees some hope (please read Romans 5:1-2)
~ FAITH in the New Testament is not an automatic means of 'bending' The Almighty to our will and to minister to our whims, but is centered in submission to the Will of God!
The FAITH-life rests in an experience (trust) and follows the example of Jesus!
FAITH applies to all God gives to life's situations.
It reaches out to take salvation and the subsequent blessings.
It says 'the battle is the Lord's', but I'm to be a soldier of The Cross......
using all the armor of the Christian. (Eph. 6:11-18).
All is under the control of God and for the honor of God!
My favorite Psalm is Psalm 37.
He speaks of the 'steps of a good person's FAITH, ordered by the Lord.
~ 'Fret Not' (Vs. 1)
~ 'Trust in the Lord' (Vs. 3)
~ 'Delight in the Lord and do good' (Vs. 4)
~ 'Commitment your way to Him' (Vs. 6)
~ 'Rest in the Lord' (let your weights down) (Vs. 7)
~ 'Cease from anger and fret not' (Vs. 8)
~ 'Wait on the Lord' (don't run ahead..nor behind God's Way) (Vs. 9)
In the midst of a storm, a little boy on a ship was asked if he was afraid and he replied, "Why should I be...my father is the Captain."
God is our Captain and the Holy Spirit and the Word of God are our guides!
"My FAITH Looks Up To Thee"
Words: Ray Palmer (1808 - 1887)
Music: Lowell Mason (1792 - 1872)
"My faith looks up to Thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
be wholly Thine!
May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire!
While life's dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my Guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow's tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from Thee aside.
When ends life's transient dream,
when death's cold, sullen stream
shall o'er me roll;
blest Savior, then in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul"
