There are never rules to follow
In order to hear My voice;
But here's a good way to learn how
If you ever make that choice
Start by praying, and reading My Word
Be sure you've confessed all sin;
Focus on Me, and sing if you wish
Clear your mind before you begin
Believe in your heart that I Am there
Wanting to talk with you;
Ask Me a question you desire
You may write our dialogue too
Be still, and wait for My reply
You'll hear a Word speak suddenly;
I love to surprise, I love to reward
Those who diligently look for Me
You'll feel My love in your spirit
When you receive My voice in your mind;
Because I dwell in your heart
Discerning My feelings, you'll find
Believe by faith the Words you hear
They come as a sudden thought of love;
See if it aligns with Scripture
If there's anything you're unsure of
Please be patient, as this takes time
To recognize My voice, and know;
As everything takes practice, so does this
You'll hear Me easier as you grow
