Author requests article critique

Why do you pray only now and then?
Am I not important to you?
In times of trouble, you cry to Me
You pray when life makes you to

How do you think a father feels
When his son rarely visits or call?
He knows if He wouldn't help
His son wouldn't communicate at all

I want My children to love Me
Not just by words, but deeds;
To pour out their hearts because of praise
Not because they have a need

I will always love you, My son
Even if you never talk to Me;
But I want you to know I do feel pain
And cry tears, you just can't see

How much more I love you
Than anyone ever could;
I give you gifts, and help in trouble
Yet you don't love Me like you should

Please don't take My love for granted
And pray but once in a while;
Will you call often because you love Me?
It sure would make Me smile

It would hurt if our children only spoke to us when they needed something and never expressed their love and appreciation. We all need that reminder that prayer should be praise and not just asking for things.
