I was homeschooled from second grade though my high school graduation. My parents were my teachers. They committed themselves to teaching me, and my sisters, not merely math facts and language skills, but good values and principles and how to learn. They instilled in me a love for learning that goes beyond basic classroom studies. It was through them that I discovered there are lessons to be learned through baking, visiting the nursing home, dancing, and taking trips to the beach. My mom and dad took every opportunity to teach me that learning is a lifestyle, something that happens everyday, no matter how young or how old we are. Sometimes lessons are written out in black-and-white and sometimes they're hidden in the commonplace tasks of our lives. We just have to look for them, seizing them as golden opportunities, another chance to explore the beautiful world God has given us.
