Mary, lonely, cries, despairing,
Tears obscuring soul and sight,
Into a future, darkness glaring,
Lost in bleak, extinguished light.
The empty tomb lies cold and bare,
‘If you’ve moved Him, tell me where.’
Mary, do you not remember
Listening to your Master’s word?
Can you recall, times without number,
Each promise you, believing, heard?
Stir your soul, remember then
‘In three days, I shall rise again’.
See again His power, His giving
Life restored and healing might.
Lame now walking, dead now living,
Blind rejoicing in the light.
Could the One who made you well
Be ‘prisoned by the bars of hell?
Quietly still your tears and anguish,
See the grave clothes on the floor.
In your sadness do not languish,
‘Who is it you’re looking for?’
‘If you’ve carried Him away,
Tell me, Sir, where now He lay.’
‘Evidence is not enough, Just evidence alone
Meet Him, the only living truth,Encounter God’s own Son.’
‘Mary’! Sudden Revelation.
Blind eyes opened, Joy restored.
Awesome wonder. Great elation.
He’s Alive. Her Risen Lord.
From dark despair turn now away.
Jesus Christ is Risen Today.
‘Evidence is not enough, Just evidence alone
Meet Him, the only living truth, Encounter God’s own Son.’
