What I believe is not shown
In the words that I say.
But instead is seen in how
I treat others every day.
For words are merely sounds
Empty things we speak.
Actions are much louder
Are we vain and proud or meek?
Do we show love to strangers
That stumble across our path?
Or do we push them aside
Ignore them or worse yet, laugh?
Do we offer aid to those in need
Or turn our heads away?
Pretend we never saw them
And go on our own way.
To show you what I believe
I never have need to preach
My words are in my hands and feet
My actions are how I teach.
I can only hope that what I say
Is loving, caring, and kind
Helpful hands that will show
A truer word you cannot find.
