I am thirsty for Life giving Water
And I came to drink from the Well
I know the Hand that lifts the cup
Not from a stream, brook or pail
None other will ever taste so sweet
Or satisfy this longing deep inside
O’ Sweet Holy Spirit , Jesus my Lord
I am parched and lonely ,your bride
Righteousness calls for a different gale
Storm clouds of unease and unrest
Raining conviction from a raging sky
making believers again and not guests
Pour steadily on this empty desert trough
Harsh bitterness, the taste of unbelief
Dry riverbeds starve for rain of rebirth
Water from Thine Own hand, is our relief !

Dear Judy, I really loved the name of your poem, and the poem also, but I think we all go through times of Dry Riverbed's! AND, that is the best description, I think. Hey, how about a song about that subject? Sounds like a attention-getter to me.
Very good poem,Judy and timely. Oh how we need the River of his Holy Spirit on the body of Christ. I just finished listening for the upteenth time the song "How we need the River" by Terry MacAlmon...then I read your poem...very timely and I believe spirit inspired. Thank you for voicing on paper how many 'feel'. GOD BLESS YOU
