Sunday 6/13/10 Pastor Alex sermon: Compelled to Persevere Eph 2:10,Luke 6:28,IICor 4:8-9,Gal6:9
We need to persevere, to run the race to the end. When we say enough is enough and we get discouraged, we should persevere with the strength of Jesus Christ which is in us. The Spirit of Praise can overcome depression. We should start singing, worshipping and praising God. He can overcome our sadness and depression.
We were created to worship God! We have to be careful not to worship wrong things and we need to beware of idols. God can meet our emotional needs and we don’t need to turn to secular stress relievers.
People use tobacco, booze, drugs and food to relieve their stress. God says be anxious for nothing! He will relieve our stress if we go to God first for our healing. We can ask God to heal us of our headache before we go for Tylenol. God gets jealous when we got to other things and folk before we go to Him. God is the only one worthy to worship. Seek first the kingdom of God, put God 1st and 2nd things will come.
Things to Remember When We Feel We Hit the Wall
1) God Gave us a Powerful Mission -Eph 2:10:
We are on a mission for God and He is with us always. II Cor 11:23-33 God is with us through All our things. Although we go through perils, we are still on a mission for God, He will protect us and bless us.
2) There Will Always Be Folk Who Don’t Understand- Luke 6:26:
People will give us the credit, not God, for our deliverance and life change. Some folk will just throw rocks at us. We need to just pray for those who curse and hurt us. To persevere thru life, we need to know that some people just “won’t get it”!!
3) When We Get Knocked Down, We Can Get Back UP- II Cor 4:8-9,
Gal 6:9 We have troubles on every side of us but when we get knocked down, we can get back up thru the Strength of God!
4) It Is Impossible to Persevere If We Don’t Worship God: We need to be worshippers of God because its only God who can strengthen us. He is the only one that can help us persevere to the end. We should shout to the Lord, lift up holy hands to the Lord and Praise God our Father.
AMEN
