O but that my people would listen,
O but that they would understand!
That I am the Lord their God, who is filled with compassion and kindness,
I am not easily angered.
Nor do I act in haste.
But I am patient and forgiving!
If anyone turns and does what is right I will forgive him!
But my patience shall not last forever;
And it is quickly coming to an end with this stubborn people.
I am about to destroy every city and town in this wicked nation!
I will burn them with fire and make bitter the water in every well.
The people here will die of thirst, unable to drink the water, because it has become bitter.
