Most people like you or me, would think that a mother panther would be aggressive and mean. But through my eyes… she is just a mother. Protective, loving, nurturing and most of all, a good cat! She is my mother. And I love her too! She has never killed anyone to protect me! She has only scared them away! But, I cannot say the same for my pour, pour aunty. For my cousin is constantly protected by my aunt, for she kills humans for her!
But back to business I am only a couple months old. And I am in my den right at this second. My mother is hunting for food so that she can provide me with milk! See what I mean! All thoughtful and loving! I am sleepy… so ‘yawn’ good night! And see you after you see my mother.
Chapter 1 – Aunty Evil
As the stealthy panther crept silently along the jungle floor, ears pricked and eyes alert. She heard something rush in one of the bushes next to her, and crouched low as she listened with her ears pricked. Then she immediately straightened, once she realized that it was only one of her cubs… yup, you guessed it! It’s just me! I’m the curious and most adventurous one in the family! I have one brother, and one sister. They are just mostly lazy and sleep a lot! I on the other paw, love to search my surroundings and stay near mom.
“What are you doing out here Tasumi?” Mother asked me as she rolled her eyes annoyed.
“I just was curious on how you hunt! I want to learn early!” I answered as I tripped over my own tail. “What are you hunting today?”
“Sweaty, you need to watch over your brother and sister for momma! Not running around with me when you’re not even six moons old!” she answered as she pushed me around and tapped me on my rump towards my home-den.
“But I want to stay with you! Not with sleepy, farty, stinky, lazy”-
“Yes, I know that you don’t want to go back to sleep with your brother and sister, but will you please do this for me baby?” she asked me. But I knew that I had no choice… even when she pretends to give me one.
“Ok, but”-
“Thank you, now run along dear. Mommy will be home soon. Now run along!” she said as she pushed me back into the brush.
*****
Ok, well maybe I said a few harsh things about my siblings up there, but most of it is true! They are both farty and lazy… most of the time! But they’re nothing compared to my aunty evi- let me just show you! ‘Please fasten your seatbelts while the story is in motion!’
Now, my aunty is (what I think) is around the oldest panther EVER! Because she is ugly! I feel bad for my cousin! Her name is Blits, Blits is like a princess! She is my aunt’s idol! Everything has to be perfect for Blits. Otherwise the whole world is over. I could care less, and so could Blits! She tells me that she could use a break sometimes. And I couldn’t really blame her… could you? I would not like it a bit! Because everybody is watching everything you do, and you can’t go farther than two lion’s tails away from the den without an escort! And even then everybody is watching you! How pathetic right?
“Blits, have you cleaned your den yet?” aunty asked her annoyed already.
“No aunty, I’m watching cousin Blur. Remember?” she answered tiredly.
“Yes, but you should still clean your den! In fact, I’ll just get the rats to do that for you! And get one of the monkeys to tend to cousin Blur.” She growled a few times, and in seconds there was not a single spot left in Blits’ den, and Blur was already asleep. Now I have nicknamed my aunt ‘aunty evil’ because she is evil to everybody except for herself and most of her family members! Especially certain someone that’s name rimes with Blits!
Now, I think that you would like to meet my best friend Lilly. She isn’t exactly in town or a panther either. But Lily’s mom is also best friends with my mom!
She is a wolf! It may be a little awkward that a panther would be friends with a wolf! But we were friends since… birth! She was only born one moon after me! We are the, bestest friends EVER!!! We are never apart for more than a single moon! We always walk to each other’s houses, or… we just take the fast way… by running or we used to be able to ride one of the maiden gorillas! And they can still hold us, just not as easily.
