One of the strongest signs that we are rapidly closing in on the end of the Church Age is that Church People are “falling away” in greater and greater numbers!
Jesus was very clear about this: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold!” Matthew 24:12
Those who once had warm emotions for our Lord see such an overwhelming prevalence of iniquity that their feelings for Jesus turn from warm to cold! Not understanding that the “final” generation of the Church age must endure the hardships of iniquity run amuck, they turn away from the One Who alone is able to sustain them during these ungodly times!
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
Although to some extent this does mean that people will be “falling away” from participating in Church, the greater reality is that there shall be a great falling away FROM THE TRUTH IN THE CHURCH! Consider the condition of the Church Community today! Homosexuals being ordained as clergy! The divorce rate among Church Leaders is as great or greater than the divorce rate of the un-Churched population! False teachings are preferred over the Truth of God and the Gospel is so often presented to be some sort of a business arrangement with God being expected to be at our command!
Yet for all of this, we must remember that all of this is really the basis for great and joyful anticipation! For this is signaling the imminent move of Jesus to reclaim His Body, His Bride, The Church from off of the earth! This is the time, as never before that we are truly correct to “look up” for our redemption draws near!
Let us therefore, be found faithful and look for the appearance of His coming for us, HIS Church! This is not a reason to ourselves grow cold but to renew our efforts to win the lost and restore the fallen!
“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)
LET OUR ANSWER BE A RESOUNDING YES!
