As a stranger and a pilgrim,
I shall abstain from fleshly lusts.
They will wage war against the soul.
Avoidance of them is a must.
I shun appearance of evil.
It will destroy me like weevils.
I block being ill-spoken.
I prevent my spirit broken.
I give no place to the devil.
He’ll lower me to his level.
Youthful appetites, I must flee.
Caught in snares, I decline to be.
Being drawn away, I deny.
To one-night stands, “no” is my reply.
Though the shrill call of nature taunts,
I fight seizure by carnal wants.
