I don't want to settle for anyone less
Than who God has for me--the one who's the best.
So many times I look around me
And am filled with disappointment to see
People choosing to throw their lives away
Simply because they don't believe there will be a day
When they will experience the best God has to give.
In pure misery these settling people live.
Well, I don't want that--I want to be blessed,
So I pray for who God wants me to have--the best!
Jesus, I know You know my heart's desires,
And I want to be sure I don't play with fire.
I know how easily my heart can break,
And I don't want a man just for companionship's sake.
If I settle for anyone less than the best,
My life will be full of nothing but unrest.
The waiting part is difficult for me,
But I'm aware of how blessed I will be
If I wait on the best, which will come from You--
A love that is pure, for a lifetime, and true!
Love, I want you to know that I pray
That you're becoming a man who follows God's way,
That you'll be the best husband that you can.
I know I'll thank God every day for you, my man,
Before and after you come into my life.
I'm praying that for you I'll be the best wife.
I want to be the wife of Proverbs 31,
The kind who won't make your life come all undone.
The best is the only way anyone can go,
Because the best comes from Jesus--that I know!
