I live in a world bound by rules;
As myself, I can't make the grade.
To make my place with what I do
I have to know how the game is played.
I look around and see I don't fit.
To stay where I am, I've got to be
Someone other than who I am
Someone different than who I see.
But I want more than they have got.
They claim to have enough to give;
They claim to have all the answers,
But I wonder if they know how to live.
Hard to believe their world was mine.
I used to play by all of their rules,
But I've grown up, and I have changed.
I use a different set of tools.
I'm not the child that I once was;
I see things differently,
And now I know my dreams and hopes.
Now I'm learning who I'm to be.
