We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed-2 Corinthians 4:8&9 NIV. Or in other words-We've been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we're not demoralized; we're not sure of what to do, but we know that God knows; we've been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn't left our side; we've been thrown down, but we haven't been broken-2 Corinthians 4:8&9 TM.
When I hear these verses I immediately think of the house that was built on the rock and the woman who had her menstrual cycle for 12 years (Matthew 7:24&25; 9:20 NIV ). Why you may ask? Well in both scenarios the situation at hand looked very bad, especially from man's perspective.
When situations look really bad they aren't as bad as they seem. We know this because God's power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV). When tough times come God wants us to remember that it's just on the surface and it only looks (emphasis on this word) bad.
It may look really bad but have no fear because Jesus is near!
