If we're thrown into the blazing furnace the God we serve is able to save us from it. But even if He doesn't we want you to know that we will NOT serve your gods and or worship any image of gold you've set up-Daniel 3:17&18 NIV.
Man! What courage and faith it must have taken to boldly say those words, especially to a king while you're living in a foreign land. Just image how heated king Nebuchadnezzar was when he heard Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego shout these words out in unison.
The king was so angry with these men and their discontent for him that He ordered the furnace, (which was used as an instrument of execution) to be heated seven times hotter than it normally was (verse 19). He did this in an attempt to bring Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to their knees and make them serve what he had cited as god. Thankfully this weak attempt didn't work.
After Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were forced into the fire, the king thought that his eyes were playing tricks on him. He thought this because not only did he see the three that he had ordered into the fire but he also so a fourth man dancing around (verse 25) as if they were at a party. In reality it was no trick but only that of God's work being displayed right before king Neduchadnezzar's eyes and also through Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego lives.
King Neduchadnezzar tried to pervert the right ways of the Lord (Acts 13:10 NIV) by forcing his subjects to serve a god who really was no god at all. But it didn't work! If there are people in your life that are trying to preach a gospel other than the gospel that you've already accepted (Galatians 1:9 NIV) then it's time for you to have a defining moment of your own.
