THE STORY OF JUDAH PART 1
Before we begin I wish to inform you that the Judah I speak of is not a country but the name of a man. Who is the man called Judah? Judah is the fourth son of Jacob, the brother of Joseph. Genesis 35:23. What lessons can we learn from the man called Judah and why are we covering this topic today? Please sit back as we dive into the story of Judah.
According to Genesis 29:35, the meaning of the
word “Judah” means praise. Do you know the meaning of your name? Do you know the meaning of your children’s name? Do you know the story behind your name and the reason why you were called by the name you are called? There is a reason behind Judah’s name, the bible reveals that for seven years, Leah the wife of Jacob had no child. This was not the only problem that she had, the bible reveals that she was not loved by her husband Genesis 30:11. Are you in a marriage whereby the story of love cannot be found? Jacob never paid attention to Leah because he was in love with another woman called Rachel, the sister of Leah. Are you in a marriage where the husband or wife shows no affection towards you? God saw how unfair Jacob was to Leah, so the lord almighty opened the womb of Leah. I have a prayer for you today, my prayer is that God’s favor will be placed upon you in the mighty name of Jesus. The Lord almighty will cause your husband or wife to become affectionate towards you in the mighty name of Jesus.
I am very much aware that Jacob had two wives but today I desire to pray on your behalf and the prayer is this, “Every woman or mistress that desires to steal your husband, every man that desires to take your wife from you, the Lord almighty will arrest them in the mighty name of Jesus. My prayer is that no woman or man will kick you out of your husband or wife’s house in the mighty name of Jesus. Most marriages fail because there is a woman or man who the devil used to destroy the marriage. I rebuke every mistress or mister away from your marriage. I rebuke the men and woman who lure husbands and wives through pornography. The lord shall deliver you from their hands in the mighty name of Jesus.
Finally the lord almighty opened the womb of Leah and she began to give birth. For 3 years she gave birth to Jesus and because of this, on her fourth child, she called him Judah, meaning praise. I have a prayer for you today, my prayer is that you will always find praise in your marriage in the mighty name of Jesus. So Judah means “Praise” so what are those things that God has done in your life that deserves praise? Have you praised the Lord almighty? Have you invested time thanking the Lord almighty? Or have you invested your time complaining, grumbling and murmuring to him?
Is so sad to realize that this present generation who are children of the Living God grumble and complain like the children of Israel in the times of Exodus
Despite the meaning of Judah’s name, Judah did not live to his name. In Genesis 37, when Joseph the brother of Judah had a dream, Judah was among those who was jealous of Joseph. Judah was also among those who sold his brother for slavery.
Please I want us to take the time to look closely at Genesis 37:3, the bible says, “Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age, and he made a richly ornamented robe for him.”
Parents do you have a favorite child among your other children? Look at past history and you will realize that favoritism for one and not the other can bring disaster in a family. Favoritism raises up jealousy and jealousy if not well handled can lead to death. Children get frustrated and depressed when more attention is given to another child.
Parents it does not matter if one child is gifted than the other, we as parents must show love to all. I know iis hard but we must show our love equally.
For almost 15 years I struggled with favoritism.
I felt my parents loved my younger brother better than I. My younger brother was very smart. He did way better than I in school, sports and many other things. My parents praised him in front of me and shamed me before him. I was so angry with him that I became very jealous of him. With my evil mind I desired to hurt him and wished he was never born. As a child I felt useless and considered myself to be a failure. Praise the name of Jesus I did not die, I did not kill my brother. I am well, the lord did not forget me. The favor of the lord fell upon me.
I have a prayer for the boys, girls, men and women who feel that they are not loved by their parents because of favoritism. My prayer is not of death but my prayer for you today is that the lord almighty will favor you in the mighty name of Jesus, just as he did to Leah.
Let God be the only one to favor your children, after all he is the alpha and the omega. Who are we to argue with him, but if you show favoritism to one and not the older, the lord will fend for the one that you love less. The God that we serve is a God who comes to the rescue of the weak. He will defend the defenseless. The lord will lift them up.
Boys, girls, men and women, you do not need to hold grudges against your parents , brothers or sisters. Let God defend you, let God come to your rescue. Let God speak to your parents and to your brothers and sister. Let God be in control. When God takes charge over your situations, he will allow you regain all that you have lost.
So Judah was jealous of his brother and when the opportunity came to kill him, Judah and his other brothers tried to kill him. Genesis 37:19 says, “Here comes that dreamer! They said to each other Come now let’s kill him and throw him into the cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dream.”(NIV)
Parents I have a prayer for you today. My prayer is that your children will not hate one another in the mighty name of Jesus. My prayer is that there will be unity, peace and love among your children in the mighty name of Jesus. My prayer is that your children, our children shall defend one another in the mighty name of Jesus.
Is a terrible thing when siblings fight among each other. I remember when my sister and I were fighting among each other, my mom began to cry. Fight among siblings can make parents to fall ill, it can make them depressed, it can rise up their blood pressure and last of all it can bring about separation and death. Let there be peace in your home in the mighty name of Jesus.
Look closely at the story in Genesis 37, even though Judah desired to kill his brother when the time game, he stopped and said in Genesis 37:26, “What will we gain, if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?”
Please I must inform you that is not Judah that intervened but the Lord almighty. My prayer for you today is this, whoever is trying to destroy you, may the lord raise someone among your enemies to stand in the gap in the mighty name of Jesus. Is amazing when one of your enemies decides to defend you, this is the Almighty in control.
I have another prayer for you again. May God always come to your rescue, it does not matter how many are upon you or how angry or powerful the crowd is or the circumstances, God shall stand for you. Your enemies shall be confused because of God’s presence. Like Joseph, the lord shall secure your dream, the Lord Almighty shall bring to past your destiny in the mighty name of Jesus.
