Here I was without a penny to my name. I had to pick up the kids from daycare. I guess I had some food in the house, but when I say I was broke, I meant it. B-R-O-K-E.
I was going through tough times, and I was praying and crying out to God. I didn't even have enough money to get on the subway to go get some money from family. What in the world was I going to do?
"Hi sweetie", I said as my one year old leaped into my arms. "Time to go."
"Ms. Dixon", the teacher called after me.
"Yes."
"I have something for you."
Much to my surprise, she pulled out a $5 bill from her drawer.
"We never did go on that field trip last week, so here is your money back."
"Thank you so much Ms. A," I replied as I made a hasty retreat. I did not want her to see the water that began to flood my eyes. That $5 was enough for me to get on the train and make it to my family.
As I walked home, all I kept thinking was "Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus." No one can tell me that it was a coincidence or just luck. The Lord knew what I needed, and He knew when I needed it. He is ALWAYS there for me and ALWAYS on time.
