A cheerful heart is good medicine and a heart of peace gives life to the body but a crushed spirit along with envy dries and rots the bones (Proverbs 14:30 & 17:22 NIV)
Do you know someone (or maybe you are that someone) who canít see any good in any situation? Well I sure do! It doesnít matter how many times God sends a blessing their way or rescues them they still have a hard to seeing any good within or around every situation.
Letís look at some examples of this continual state of unhappiness. 1) They win a brand new car (I said win, which means no financing is involved) but itís the wrong color. Well instead of rejoicing in the Lord (Philippians 4:4 NIV) they pitch a fit because the car is a color that they absolutely detest. 2) They inherit some money (I said inherit, which means they didnít have to work one minute of their lives for it) from a will but the money is to be used for their child's college fund only. Well instead of praising the Lord (Psalms 150:6 NIV) they get upset because they had already made plans for it. 3) Someone breaks into their home but nothing is taken (I said nothing because everything is exactly the way it was before they left for work). Well instead exalting the Lord (Psalms 99:9 NIV) they complain to no end about the cost of repairing a broken window. In all those examples they could have celebrated several times over but since they live in a continual state of unhappiness they had no joyful noise (Psalms 98:4 ESV) to make.
Seeing the good regardless (Philippians 2:14 NIV) of the situation allows us to rejoice, praise and exalt the Lord. So make it your business to see the good at all times and in all things!
