The Hidden Man of Sin
I clothe myself in masquerade attire
And don the robes of who you think I am.
Quivering lips and tear filled eyes
Snug behind a mask of smiles.
Tumors lurk beneath the skin
No scalpel can remove this mass,
Malignant or benign, I only wish I knew.
This cancer’s name is sin.
The dilemma’s fact, I feed its spread,
So sad and yet so true.
Singing and laughter hide my cries
Of anguish, guilt, and shame.
This disease consumes my spirit-man
Soon all will see its fruit.
Lest I cry out, to my knees fall low
Then I shall surely die.
For the wages of sin is death
Repentance must be made.
Forgiveness awaits my humbled soul
The price has been met so long ago.
Radiation now administered,
Not by the hand of man.
Beams of love from redemption’s cross
Will cleanse and make me whole.
****
You say oh, Child of God
How can you be this sick?
I never thought I’d see the day
That you could steep so low!
Did not my eyes behold; my ears hear
An exemplar man of faith
Disappointment grips my aching heart
Now a hypocrite I face.
****
O’ Brother please, I need a friend
Condemn me not, bereft; I’m at wit’s end
Will you not spend one hour in prayer?
Come help me find my way?
Back to the one who loved me first,
I must yield my sickness there.
For he will reveal this hidden man of sin
And be Super Naturally removed.
