It Should've Been You

A father walked me down the aisle

But he wasnít you.

A father supported me on my graduation day

But he wasnít you.

A father proposed a toast on my wedding day

But he wasnít you.

A father comforted me through my time of sorrow

But he wasnít you.

A father gave me marital counselling

But he wasnít you.

I have a father who prays with, and for me

But it shouldíve been you.

I have a father who I can turn to for guidance

But it shouldíve been you.

I have a father who calls to see how Iím doing

But it shouldíve been you.

I have a father who embraces me as a daughter

But it shouldíve been you.

Today I resent no more,

For my heavenly Fatherís love is true.

He has erased resentment.

Heís given me a heart thatís renewed.

Dear Dad,

My renewed heart, filled with Godís unconditional love, enabled me to search for you. Now Iím thankful that Iíve found you. And I just want you to know that I love you. I have such peace inside that ignites the joy I so longed for. His love is contagious I know youíll catch it too. May you find that peace within, that true love brings. You still have a place in my heart and I will always love you. Though Iíve never seen your face, from my heart you will never depart.

I love you dad.

Happy Fatherís Day!

My heart hurts for you. No child should grow up without the love and support (emotional) of her/his father. Yes, we have a Heavenly Father, and the Scriptures say,(ad-lib) When your father and mother forsake you, then He (the Lord) will 'pick' you up...I think you are referring to your Heavenly Father in this article. Right?...Helen
