Love is the Hallmark of Maturity

What are the signs of a truly mature child of God? The answer is captured in one word: love. Love is the hallmark of a spiritually mature child of God. Love is the yardstick for maturity. Love is long-suffering, love is kind, love does not envy, love is not puffed up, love is not inward-looking, love is selfless, love is not easily provoked, love thinks no evil, love does not rejoice in iniquity, love upholds the truth, love bears and endures all things, love believes every word of God, love is not racist or partial, love always thinks about the unsaved and makes an effort to share the good news of salvation in Christ, love is kingdom-minded, love does not backbite. Love is supreme, and God himself is love. As a result, love never fails to bear fruits. If you attain this level of maturity, you are likened to a tree planted by the rivers of living water that bears its fruit in season, and whose leaves never wither. Such a person shall prosper in their God-given assignment (Psalm 1). A spiritually mature person is not quick to speak. A spiritually mature person judges all things in the light of Godís word. Such a person is always prepared to go the extra mile, not operating by the rule of a tooth for a tooth or an eye for an eye, but practically embraces the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Fatherís embodiment of love. A spiritually mature person is one who has learned to rule their own body, spirit, and soul.
