When I resided on the East coast I never dreamed of living anywhere else. The endless miles of beach, the many palm trees and the variety of places to see. Florida is just one of the popular vacation places in the world.
Whether you visit Disney World, Hemmingway’s home in Key West or St. Augustine. You will find a place to visit and make a memory.
Growing up in Florida has many memories but as life will dictate we find ourselves changing as well. The circumstances in our lives have a way of marking our paths. We move when life moves.
It is ironic after moving to the Midwest visiting Florida is an option not a necessity. I find I miss the ocean, there is no replacing the salt air , shells and surf. Missouri has the lakes but Florida has the ocean.
For a person uprooting everything and coming to a place she has never been, is a challenge. The saving grace of this situation was knowing my Father placed a path before me and was well able to perform his will.
Many reasons dictated the relocation. When we moved here God knew where we would live. Coming from a large city, Miami and Jacksonville, and now living in a small town of two thousand give or take a few would not have been my choice.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighted in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord uphold his hand. Ps 37:23,24. A scripture that went with me continuously.
We previously had bought a tract of land, needless to say I felt like Abraham when God told him to go into a country he knew nothing about.
Yes, we actually did live in a tent. Winter would soon arrive and we knew our Father would find us a more suitable living arrangement. Or would He? Today looking back five years I wonder if I would have continued living in a tent. When God asks something of his children he knows the answer.
He was faithful and from tent to trailer to home, He was faithful. As I travel Missouri I can’t help but think I would stay where he placed me. Florida will always be in a remote place in my mind but Missouri is home.
Especially when I walk the creeks or look at the Ozarks where we reside. Listen to the coyotes calling to their own or just enjoying the mild summers.
If you find yourself in a situation that you have to pick up your belongings and go as Abraham then the only two resources you have is Faith and Trust.
God honors his word, he will never abandon his own. When you are called to a place that is foreign know there is a perfect reason behind an imperfect request.
Imperfect in our minds because there are times we fail to understand his way. He did say his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways. Isaiah 55: 8, 9.
God created people not robots. During the times of uncertainty look to the one who knows the beginning from the end.
