When Joseph and Mary were looking for young Jesus, remember where they found Him? He was in the temple, talking to the elders who marveled at the wisdom of the young boy.
This got me to thinking...if He was IN THE TEMPLE back then, and the New Testament book of 2 Corinthians 6:16 says, "And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For WE are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live IN THEM and walk among them and I will be their God, and they will be my people," is He not STILL in this temple today - the temple that is US?
Think about that. After all, 1 Corithians 6:19 tells us, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is IN YOU, whom you have received from God?"
Jesus told the Pharisees, "The Kingdom of God is WITHIN YOU" and He also said we should tell others, "The Kingdom of God is near you." Romans 8:11 reminds us, "The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives IN YOU."
Paul told the pagans at Mars Hill (Acts 17:28), "...IN HIM we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are His offspring.'" In Colossians 1:27 he refers to, "... Christ IN YOU, the hope of glory."
Do you get it? WE are God's new address! He works IN us, WITH us, and THROUGH us to advance His Kingdom to the benefit of ALL people because He's a loving Father. Malachi 2:10 reminds us of who we are with these words, "Are we not all children of the same Father? Are we not all created by the same God?" Our loving Father is NOT "out there," watching, as Bette Midler sang, "from a distance." He is Emmanuel - God with us - and He wants YOU to show His love to His other children. In John 14:9, Jesus said, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." Doesn't it stand to reason than anyone who has seen US - carriers of the Holy Spirit of Christ - have seen Jesus? That will never happen, of course, unless, as John wrote in Chapter 3 verse 30, "He must increase, but I must decrease."
It's all about the Fatherhood of God AND the Brotherhood of man. I know, I know. Some have already categorized me as a Universalist and may not read another word. Whatever. I'm just a Jesus-loving, devil-hating Christian who loves God and His creation in its many flavors.
Visit the Holy Lands if you must but remember, there is no holier land than the next place on which you land your shoes BECAUSE of the One who lives within and through you. A thought: How can we NOT be overcomers when that Overcomer lives within us. Seems to me, if we would simply REMAIN on the alter, His impact would be much greater. Our flesh, our five senses, really seem to muddy the water.
I'm so often amazed by religious folks who say they love God yet appear to hate everyone who believes differently (as if they've ALWAYS believed as they believe now). They claim to have the truth but would rather kill or condemn others to Hell than to bless them by introducing others to the Christ who lives in them by His Spirit.
When will we wrap our minds around these truths? When will we reject the fairy tales so many of is have been raised on? As I often say, the ONLY answer to EVERY problem know to man is Jesus. That means it is US - the lovers of God - who hold the key and yet, we would rather play church it seems.
Church? WE are ALWAYS The Church. We are never NOT The Church. SO, BE The Church wherever you go. How can you GO to that which you ARE? Church is not a building or a denomination. Chew on this stuff. It's either true or it's a lie.
Has the Father shown YOU these things, too? Seems every time I speak of them, I hear chains falling off the listeners. That is to say, UNLESS the listener is a professional minister. Sad but true.
