The Year was 1985, I was 31 years of age.I was visiting my Mother in South Georgia while attending my Churchs annual Campmeeting. On a Sunny Wensday Afternoon. while sitting in her den, with the door open, enjoying the beautiful weather outside. My Mother told me something that would forever impact my life.I had known since I was ten years old that I was adopted. I was raised as an only child.I hads always desired to have a little sister when I was growing up.
That afternoon, my Mother said, Son,I have something to tell you. You have several brothers and sisters mayby as many as seven. I was to find out later that I had eight, altogether. If you want to try and find them, I will help you. I did not hesitate. I told her yes, I want to find them.
My Dad passed away when I was only 19 and had never wanted me to know about my family for fear it may change the way I felt about him and my Mom.However Nothing could have been further from the truth. With my Moms help we obatined a court order from a local Judge to get acess to my adoption records, this took a year.I received a copy of this court order.Which I was told later I was not suppose to have and it had my birth Name on it. Miracle number 1. I had started preaching
at the age of 16 and had traveled the state of Georgia extensively and knew a lot of people from my travels. After much prayer and many miles of travel, God worked a miracle for my family by re-unitng my siblings and I agter 29 years.
I was visiting with a pastor friend of mine in
a city in central Georgia where I served as minister of youth and christian education and on a whim while visiting with him told him about my search for my family. I knew the general area we had come from and unbenowest to me, he had come from this same general area and his Mother still lived there. He contacted her and she knew some people with that same family name and had worked wityh them on a farm years ago. There happened to be a family member still living there, she contacted them and ask them about the family and
it turned out that this was my Grandmothers sister
and through her I found my dads two brothers and through them 3 of my sisters and my oldest brother, afterwards through the state adoption agency we found the other 4 siblings.Upon finding my family I found my dad was buried just 3 to 4 miles from a church I pastored for awhile and was born in the county where that church was.At ourt first re-union I told my family, We are here today
because of answered prayer and the Grace of God.
Who but God could bring 9 people back together after 29 years. All of us chilfdren were blessed to be raised in good homes, still alive and in good health. to God be the glory.
