To be the best team for the game of soccer (football), all in the team should be strong which means the best defender, the best striker, the best goal keeper etc. Any loose end on a particular position could lead to the teams underperformance and may also lose the match.
What we learn is that we need to hold our grip on in every position.
Similar is the case when in our spiritual life, we need to continue our work for the Lord and similarly be vigilant towards the attacks of the devil who is on a constant lookout for our downfall.
Nehemiah while building the wall used this stratergy to be more effective...
"Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, "
Mathew Henry in his blessed commentary states this....
'in every duty we must expect to meet with opposition from our spiritual enemies, against whom we must still be fighting the good fight of faith''.
Dear Ones, let us be strong on every end, let us constantly check our spiritual meter with our prayer life, our Bible study, our evangelism, our help to the society etc. Let us not remain weak in any area and thus we will then honor God and lift Jesus higher in our life.
By working out on our Spiritual progress, I do not mean attaining salvation by our works, which we can never as it is a free gift from God, however we need to take care to preserve this free gift, for the devil is constantly on the lookout to make us fall and seperate from God.
I often feel weak when not having prayed, I am out of words when not having done more with my Bible study, am not very effective when not having worshipped God in the Spirit.
Let God and His attributes be to us as the very breath of our life without which we cannot live and lets maintain our spiritual health to bring glory to our Lord God always.
