Marriage
4/28/10
Twenty years ago today, my parents said “I do,”
Promising for better or worse that they would make it through.
They’ve seen rough times, they’ve had their quarrels, but once the storm has passed,
They admit mistakes, apologize and prove that true love lasts.
Good times have come, they’ve had their fun and gazed at skies bright blue.
Amidst summer skies he beholds her eyes and proclaims “I love you.”
They stand for what’s right as Christians fight for faith in our great nation.
With Bible in hand they teach and admonish the next in generation.
She loves the way he makes her laugh with jokes and tricks so funny,
And oh how her heart melts with joy each time he calls her “honey.”
He knows that he can fully trust her in any circumstance,
These two were brought together by Christ, it wasn’t merely chance.
Without a doubt I know they’ll be together as long as they live.
And to themselves and to their children, that’s one of the greatest gifts to give.
So if you’re looking for a couple, who loves God and each other,
Look no farther then my home . . . in my own father and mother.
