"Get like me"

David Banner has a hit song entitled "get like me". In this song he talks about his car (it has butterfly doors or that of a Ferrari) along with how he's living his life i.e. stunting (showing off your richness). Of course this song was written before he decided to follow the Lord more closely. Nonetheless this song suggest that the way to happiness is in things that we've obtained but in reality we all know that's not true (A man's life doesn't consist in the abundance of his possessions-Luke 12:15 NIV). True happiness can only be found in Him who is above.

Christ is the one and only that we really need to be on a mission to get like. We know this because John 13:15 NIV (I have set an example that you should do as I have done) and Philippians 4:9 NIV (Whatever you've learned, received, heard or seen in me put it into practice) tells us so. God has been telling us to live our lives in a way desirable to Him since the beginning of time.

God wants His servants to adhere to the same example that His son did by exhibiting qualities such as: honesty (Don't deceive one another-Leviticus 19:11 NIV), obedience (Walk in His ways while keeping His commands, decrees and laws-Deuteronomy 30:16 NIV) , meekness (A gentle answer turns away wrath-Proverbs 15:1 NIV), hospitality (I was hungry and you give me something to eat. I was thirsty and you give me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me-Matthew 25:35&36 NIV) and must importantly love (Greater love has no one this, that He lay down His life-John 15:13 NIV).

So sing "get like me" all that you want but make sure that your get like me is more get like Him then anything else!
