Psalm 46:10a also admonishes us to “be still and know that I am God” (KJV. Being still and waiting is not something we ladies do very well. We all have a bit of Martha in us. We want to be busy about many things.
Very often the nicest part of a conversation is the time we spend listening to a friend. Certainly time spent with God should have a large portion of time carved out for listening. The Father has a lot to say to us if we are not too busy or in too much of a hurry to listen.
He says, “Wait! I’ll strengthen your heart. Be still and know”.
Dear ones, we need strength for everyday. We need to know our Father intimately.
Remember when we were dating and that special young man called us on the phone, or dropped by to see us. We were not in a hurry. We hung on his every word. The sound of his voice gave us goose bumps. (Even I can remember that after 55 years!) When my sweetheart was in Marine Boot Camp I ran to the mail box every day and looked for his letters. Every word was of great importance to me.
Well, guess what? We have a love letter from God the Father. We must search His Word. They are of great importance to us. Wait in that secret place for Him and listen to His voice. Sometimes it might give us goose bumps. Whatever He has to say to us will be worth the wait.
“Father, Please help me to slow down. Help me to learn to be quiet and wait with patience upon You. Amen”
