There is a monster growing each day in our midst, destroying the age long communal harmony of campus life. Like an epidemic, it has caught on enticing the innocent of our youth. It has left many dead, causing sorrow, grief, and pains to the Nigerian family.
Our youths are being systematically cut off in their prime by this Monster. Instances of death squads, assasins, vendettas and sexual abusses of young ladies are too rampant in the universities in Nigeria.
Like a canker worm it has eaten deep into the fabric of the youth of our people.
Secret cult, as represented by ‘Pirates(Sea Dogs), Eiye, Black-Axe, Buccaneers, Amazones, Jezebel’ etc. by their names they connote and epitomize, violence, mayhem, destruction, and death; their diabolical activities are the essence of their existence.
Mostly shrouded in mystery, fear, and terror are its weapon, and its victims are the youths of my people.
This monster has grown into an institution within the larger society, erasing the concept of social equality and harmony.
It has remoulded the minds of our youths with the doctrinal concept of ‘strong Arm’ ideology as a mode of social co-existence in our school system. It has become a fad among the youths of the nation; it’s a craze to belong. This monster has eaten deeply into the school culture, infested and polluted the blood, and caught on like gangrene.
The Nigerian family has suffered most by the sinister activities of these groups.
The generality of our people, the government, other key sectors of the society, i.e. civil society groups/NGO's and of course parents owe it to future generations to launch an awareness campaign to mobilize the general public on the dangers these groups pose to the security of the nation.
Every effort should be mounted to effectively cut off this monster before it permeates the socio-political life of the nation and integrate subtly into every fibre of our socio-cultural life.
It is our obligation as a people to leave a peaceful legacy for our children, and their children’s children; other wise it will inevitably spill into the larger society.
The moral fabric of our great nation has already been weakened by vice, corruption, tribalism, religious intolerance, ethical decadence and moral perversity.
We can not be still and allow this the activities of Secret Cults to further pull us into a down ward decline, our sins as a people are sufficient.
Concrete action should be taken by those in position of authority to cut off this Monster ravaging the university system.
It’s a social menace Nigerians can not afford to allow to continue to plague her youths if we are to evolve and develop as a people.
Fellow Nigerians, lets rise in unison, and eradicate this evil vice, it has to be fought and destroyed.
This monster, ‘Secret Cult’, must be tackled and defeated in the soonest other wise the consequencies would be very grave for the larger society.
