Moving Bridges
A Parable from Proverbs 5

"That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge" (Proverbs 5:2, KJV).
Paula drove to Elpa River, a flood had moved the bridge. Next time she came water had washed the bridge out. She came no more to this undependable bridge.
Moving bridges typified her life.
Paula dated Sam for a while. She spoke sweet words to him. Then she decided she did not like the way Sam parted his hair. "I don't want anything to do with you," she said.
Right away she started running around with Harold. However, Harold's beanpole figure displeased her. "Find another girl, Harold, I'm tired of you."
At once she took up with Ralph?a tall handsome young man. She continued going from one to another.
She left her mark on her lovers. One contacted AIDS, and the others contacted other deadly diseases. None of them cared for the things of the Lord. Downward steps led away from the Lord and to Hell.
Wise men avoided her paths and stayed away from her doorstep, but foolish men gave their honor unto her. She took their money and their health. They mourned because she had led them in the paths of death. They died with remorse.
Young men and women can learn discretion, and keep the knowledge of the Word in their hearts.
Dear Lord, Help me learn discretion from Paula. Help me avoid sinful paths and do right. In Jesus' name. Amen.
