You cannot mean me, Lord,
Oh, surely not me!
For I have no talent,
This surely You see.
But when God assigns
He will also prepare,
As we shall soon see
When this story I share.
I'm sure you have heard it...
This story of old...
Of Moses, a shepherd,
Whom God made so bold.
Minding his business
Out tending his flock,
Alone in the desert...
Imagine the shock!
A bush all ablaze
But never consumed,
And an angel of God
And a voice--He was doomed!
"Don't come any closer
And take off your shoes
For this ground is holy...
I'm God of the Jews.
I've seen all the sorrow,
The bondage, abuse,
I've come to deliver,
My people to loose.
Now go to King Pharaoh,
Demand he let go,
I've promised my people
A new land they'll know."
Though Moses resisted,
Rebelled and refused,
Still God was determined
This Moses to use.
But God was not finished
For this job was BIG,
Into heavenly pockets
He continued to dig.
Displaying His power,
God asked, "What you got?"
And out of the rod
A snake God then wrought.
Now this is all nonsense!
Now give me a break!
For why would our God
From a rod make a snake?
And then God demanded,
"Take hold of its tail."
From the slithering serpent
A rod did prevail.
Just why did God do this?
Just what do YOU think?
Why loose heaven's magic
On one who may shrink?
God thus convinced Moses
That he held God's power,
And nothing he needed
Would lack in this hour.
But Moses responded,
"Not me, Lord, not I,
I'll stammer, I'll stutter,
I'll stumble...I'll TRY."
Yet God understands us,
He knows what we fear,
And help was provided...
His brother so dear.
For two makes work easy,
With two there's more fun,
With two we're much braver
When work's to be done.
When God makes assignments
He'll always equip,
We're never alone
Any step of the trip.
All power in heaven
Is ours for God's task,
God knows what is needed,
We just need to ask.
