For thou hast been...a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall (Isaiah 25:4, KJV).
As her fingers clasped my throat, I cried out, “Lord, help me.” Even my prayer made her angry.
Silently, I pleaded the blood. While these flesh and blood fingers closed upon me, unseen powers drove her to fury, spurring her on.
How long, Lord? I pondered. My ministry for Thee has barely begun. Please deliver me; I’m not ready to die.
Slowly, her fingers lost their grip. At last release! The heat was on, but my Shadow gave shade from the burning. I saw those same fingers again without fear.
Prayer: Lord, I thank Thee. I know if the heat turns up again, Thou wilt be with me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
