Life’s Seasons
(3 down 1 to go!)
Four seasons my life does possess
I’ve weathered only three.
The days pass quickly; each one caressed
Bi-focals I now need.
My hair a tad more gray than not,
My teeth are in a cup,
Where once a six-pack graced my abs
A single I’ve now got.
The slightest sounds I could detect
A whisper I could hear,
And now I wear a hearing aid
Acquired just this year.
They claim the golden years are grand
No alarms or clocks to punch,
Well now I need a cane to stand
Salt n’ sugar free--my lunch!
What used to take an hour or so
Now seems to take all day.
I used to chase the kids around
Now on the couch I lay.
At times I stand just pondering
Do I go left or right?
Was I getting in or out?
This my golden blight?
Depressed I guess I could become
But oh, no-no, not me!
For when this winter season’s oe’r
That’s when I’ll cease to be.
He’s promised me a brand new man
No more growing old,
Some brand new legs and feet I’ll have
To walk those streets of gold.
So if you’re feeling all worn out--
Your end is drawing near,
Know this for certain, have no doubt
Soon Heaven will be here!
