Let's go to:
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (KJV)
despising (Strong's 2706)to think against ie disteem; despise (from Strong's 2596) down or against and (from Strong's 5426) to exercise the mind (from Strong's 5424) the midrif or feelings.
So HE, through His Son, Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Let's check this out.
The Author, the Word tells us exactly Who that Author is here in: Revelation 19:13, "And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God." (KJV)
Now back to the Finisher. Let's let Him, through HIM, that is to say HIS WORD, tell us how He is That Finisher of our faith.
Let's get into Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sachthani?" that is to say, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" (KJV)
and also in:
Mark 15:34 "And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is, being interpreted, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" (KJV)
What is the first thing that goes through your mind - Jesus NEVER addressed dear God, by My God, but by My Father or Father. Then you start you thinking about the Word, and that is exactly what Jesus is doing -- He is teaching us while He is on that Cross saying check ME out in My Word. The people around the cross seeing HIm in Person did not get it as here in:
Mark 15:35 "And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, "Behold, He calleth Elias." (KJV)
They had it all wrong, thinking Jesus was calling Elijah instead of knowing their Word and knowing that dear God, HImself, through HIS WORD, told us way back in Psalms 22. Even today, this day, in a church where the Word is supposedly taught, the teacher had no idea of what this meant. For you with eyes to see and ears to hear open them and let's read on.
Let's go to Psalms 22 (A Psalm of David) (KJV)
Psalms 22:1 "My GOD, my GOD, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art Thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?" (KJV)
Jesus is quoting David way back in Psalms 22. He is telling us hey this was written, remember Jesus is the Author of our Faith. Let's read more about how He fufilled the Finisher portion. Let's get back into:
Psalms 22:8 "He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver him: Let Him deliver him, seeing He delighted in him." (KJV)
This is fulfilled here in:
Mark 15:29 "And they that passed by railed on Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ah, Thou That destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three days." (KJV)
Mark 15:30 "Save Thyself, and come down from the cross, that we may see and believe" And they that were crucified with Him reviled Him." (KJV)
Also back in:
Psalms 22:18 "They part my garments among them, And cast lots upon my vesture." (KJV)
This is again here in:
John 19:23 "Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments, and made four parts to every soldier a part; and also His coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout." (KJV)
John 19:24 "They said therefore among themselves, "Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be:" that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith "They parted My raiment among them, and for My vesture they did cast lots." These things therefore the soldiers did." (KJV)
and also here in:
Luke 23:34 "Then said Jesus, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they parted His raiment, and cast lots." (KJV)
Now to close showing that HE that Finisher of our faith told us way back here again in Psalms 22 exactly how all of this would go down. Let's hear His Words:
Psalms 22:31 "They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness unto a People that shall be born, That He hath done this." (KJV)
This is for us today. We are that People. Let's see where this came to pass where Jesus, Himself, bleeding and dying on the Cross for your and my sins, but teaching us. He never wastes time. Let's honor Him here in:
John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished:" and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost." (KJV)
finished (Strong's 5055) to complete, execute, discharge (as a debt), accomplish, finish.
ghost (Strong's 4151) a current of air, breath, a spirit
So here Jesus states it is finished or done completing Psalms 22. THere is no doubt that Jesus loved us that much He is reciting HIs Word, showing us what went down line by line in Psalms 22 to Him having Him complete the role of the Finisher of our faith. He finishishes His Will and Word by being our Passover as here in:
I Corinthians 5:7 "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ oru passover is sacrificed for us:" (KJV)
I Corinthians 5:8 "Therefore let us keep the feast not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." (KJV)
He is our Passover, he is not our Easter! Let Him make you whole by taking the sin, or leaven, out by asking Him to forgive you of your sins, and sinning no more. The sincerity and truth of His Word in our mihnds keeps us as that new lump, that new Christian, or Christ man or woman, in Him.
Let's go to Acts 12:4 "And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people." (KJV)
Easter (Strong's 3957 Greek pas'khah) the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it)
Easter here is a mistranslation and has no place in God's Word. The correct word in the Greek is Passover.
In closing His Truth rules. Whether back when Psalms 22 was written, when Jesus was dying for our sins on the Cross, or today in 2010. His Truth will always overcome man's traditions and teachings. So check out anyone who brings you the Word or claims it, and always go to Him, as HE IS the Word of God, in His Word.
Stand yourself accounted. That day of judgment will come for us all and let it be a happy and good day of reward as here in:
Revelation 21:12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (KJV)
Make sure your works are grounded on Him and His Word as you can always stand on HIm and His Word.
