Mankind has come a long way from the Bible days. And as the earth ages, changes occur. Technology increases--implementing a new way of life. But while we are enjoying the bounty of our microwave society, our children are being robbed of their innocence. We tend to dismiss the obvious by telling ourselves that time has changed and now-a-days children are mature for their age. Some even say tht the negative behavior of our children stems from the drugs or shots given to them by doctors, at a young age. However, children are children then and now; they live what they learn. Their behavior, negative or positive--other than isolated reasons--derives from the things they were exposed to during their upbringing.
Unfortunately, our young people today have erupted like a volcano. Because of easy access to guns, drugs, liquor, and x-rated materials, they have become more rebellious and violent thant ever. In most households, respect for parents is a myth. and many schools today are like brothels and war zones. We find that many teenage boys end up in prison because they chose to sell drugs and kill each other rather than getting a good education to make an honest living. Also, our young girls are lacking self worth; they have become promiscuous, and teenage pregnancy is a daily occurrence. The spread of venereal diseases among young people has escalated.
Sadly, the explicit acts of immorality, which was once locked away in the adult world, in now being introduced into the lives of our children. The Internet, television, violent video games, and lewd lyrics are some of the tools used to corrupt their minds. Through the evil side of technology, predators now have easy access to our homes, making our children candidates for destruction.
Apparently, we as parents or guardians will have to take a stand and make an effort to take back our children, and protect them from negative influences. Discipline must be reinstated in the homes. And we have to monitor our children as best we can. Clearly, this is not an easy task, but with much prayer and determination, we can keep some of our children from becoming a part of a generation that is worst than Sodom and Gomorrah.
