Devotionals
“Go downstairs and get stuck,” she commands.
Usually bossy voices get a reprimand, but I did say I would play. I march down the stairs and wedge my arm in the couch cushions. “Help, help, ¡Ayúdeme!” I call out, quoting one of our favorite cartoon rescue shows.
I wait for a couple minutes. I hear my rescuer playing with her brother upstairs. I call out a few more times. She has forgotten me; great rescue!
Several minutes later I am doing something somewhat productive when I hear a small voice from the second floor.
“Get stuck!”
After a few complaints on my part, I finally just re-stuck myself. Explaining to a three year old that you did not want to be stuck until she was ready to save you is an unwinnable argument.
“Help, Help, ¡Ayúdeme!”
I am rewarded for my dramatic effort this time.
She waltzes down the steps with her best hero outfit. The full-body princess pajamas are cinched together at the waist with a karaoke microphone cable. A frayed, white straw hat tops her golden tresses. Starting at mid-nose and ending at the chin, there is a line of purple marker drawn down the middle of her face. A fairy-wand waves at me in her right hand.
“Now dance,” she says.
While dancing and singing I wonder what I should do now. In answer, she loses her gear and proceeds to dismiss me.
“Now you’re safe,” is her final statement.
I guess the game is over.

I grow impatient waiting. Do you?
I don’t think I need saving, or help for that matter. Sound familiar?
I didn’t plan on needing anything. I usually don’t even know if I’m having trouble in life. I’m just trudging along with my head down trying not to run into anything.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16)
Probably the most quoted scripture in the bible; it says a lot. The world didn’t know it needed saving, and we are no different. Even now, as I stand clothed in Christ, I impatiently go about life with little or no time for getting un-stuck.
Easter is upon us. Eggs, candy, and family, right?
No. Let us stop, look at how stuck we are, and remember the un-sticker. There’s no bunny out there that can stand us up after we stumble. There’s no candy that lasts like the gift of eternity. Family as we know it; is just a shadow of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Happy Easter!
In Christ,
TD

Beautiful and very thought provoking, after all how can we get unstuck if we don't acknowledge being stuck.
