Women of Integrity
A woman of integrity sets her face like a flint. She maintains a godly character. As she sails on life’s seas, she does not bend to every whim. “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them” (Prov. 11:3). Her ship will land safely on the shore.
What is integrity? A woman of integrity lives a truthful and honest life. Not a hypocrite, she shows sincerity in her life-style and her convictions. This sailor walks in moral uprightness. God looks on her heart and sees a woman of a godly character. Righteousness characterizes her life.
The ungodly may try to smear her reputation, but her character they cannot touch. Our reputation refers to what men think we are; character speaks of what we are. This does not mean sinless perfection, for all have a sinful nature inherited from Adam.
As this sailor seeks to follow God’s way, He strengthens her and gives her boldness to stand up for the right. He directs her paths day by day. As bad sailors threaten her, the Captain delivers her out of trouble.
Few women of integrity possess much of this world’s goods, yet they remain content with the heavenly treasures they lay up above.
On the other hand, the Captain calls ungodly sailors an abomination. This means He hates their deeds, not their souls. God loves them and wants them to repent of their wicked deeds and come to Him (John 3:16; 2 Pet. 3:9).
The deeds of the ungodly cause them to fall by their own wickedness. Sin destroys the sinners who refuse to repent. The Captain considers even their sacrifices an abomination because they refuse to turn their hearts toward Him.
The Lord delights in those who hold fast to their integrity. It pleases Him when sailors refuse to compromise with the world. These women hold their standards high, yet gentleness and kindness prevails in their lives. God blesses their lifeship.
Where does she obtain her inner strength? Daily, she communes with her Captain and pours over His Logbook. This precious book guides her as she sails on life’s sea.
God gives her an understanding of the Bible and toward all who sail on life’s seas. This godly sailor pleases God because she treats others right. Because of her consideration for wayward sailors, she draws them to her Lord.
