Something I read this morning made me think about how all the early followers of Jesus were shocked by the experience of His death. Their expectation was that of an earthly kingdom.
I have set many goals in my life and had the absolute expectation of accomplishing them. Yes I experienced many of them, but many of them I did not, or had to reset the time.
The key is knowing that this is normal and not becoming discouraged. Only those who never experience expectation really lose. Make certain of one thing--that you experience expectation, even if your experience doesn't match your expectation.
