Once I doubted that God was real;
There was no proof I could see and feel.
My heart was hard and I'd closed my mind;
I didn't seek nor want to find.
Then came a time of deep despair;
I had no hope, no one to care.
God could have turned his back on me;
instead he answered my anguished plea.
My eyes were blind, but now they see;
my heart was touched and my soul set free.
I can't touch God, yet I can feel
His peace, His love . . . and I know He's real.
