Sometimes the letters I form are not enough
I try to put the words together that will somehow honor you
But I am but flesh and blood
Born and shaped in iniquity
How can the letters I link together
Honor the blessings you have bestowed on me
How does one honor the shedding of blood?
That delivers me from sin and shame
How can I create a word or phrase unfamiliar to you
When it is you that have given those words to me
How can this weak heart and tainted tongue
Ever be enough to praise you Lord?
Understanding the purpose of my creation
Is not my own
I was made to sing praises to my Lord
Perhaps these words are not majestic enough
Perhaps my heart will sometimes fall short
But my desire is for you Lord
I love you with a fullness I can’t explain
I love you whether in joy, hurt or pain
I love you for breathing life into me
I love you more over for what I can not see
The shelter you provide each day I wake
From spirits I can’t see who wish to harm me
The still quiet voice you whisper to me
Ordering my steps as a Father would His Child
Guiding me, loving me, embracing me one step at a time
I wish I could bend and mold the words for you
Creating some new thought or phrase to honor you
Something that no one has ever heard
Simply to give homage to you my Lord
But I am but flesh and blood
But the spirit in me was sent from above
And with that spirit my heart welcomes you
As the desires within still seek an honor befitting for you

Lisa I have read most of your offerings and came back here for my comments. I love the way you take our ordinary moment by moments, with all our stumbling and bumbling and inject them them with the eternal Divine that is always hovering a mere shadow away from those moments. Truly there is nothing we can offer our Lord but our desperate need. And worship is the best platter to serve it on. God Bless you! Glenn
"Perhaps these words are not majestic enough, perhaps my heart will sometimes fall short, but my desire is for you Lord." Lisa, I so identify with you in your heart thoughts, here. I am thankful He sees beyond mere words and looks into the depth of who we are.
