Bent on freedom
From my sin
Taken captive
Once again
Human strength
To no avail
Takes its toll
And leaves me frail
Constant struggle
Tighter chains
Same old fight
Sharper pains
Beaten body
Stubborn flesh
Steadfast battle
Sudden death
God of glory
God of grace
Sent His son
To take my place
Now I live
To sing His song
He redeemed
My life gone wrong
Although the sin
Remains in me
I’m no slave-
I’ve been set free
Heaven bound
And Jesus bent
Godly strength
When prayer is sent
Hope renewed
And faith defined
Not by sight
Or solely mind
But, with my heart
My strength, my soul
I love the Lord
Who makes me whole.
