The Word for Writers
'I Sold a Poem!'
"I SOLD A POEM TODAY!" I say;
"Received some payment for a verse!"
"SHOW, THEN, THE DOLLARS!" I am told;
(In language, businesslike, and terse.)
I saw a smile dissolve the gloom
Upon a face of sorrow made;
Again I say, "I SOLD A POEM!"
(No money, yet, I'm overpaid.)
