We have all heard about the calm before the storm. Though, it is only after we have weathered the storms in our life, that we learn some valuable and unforgettable lessons.
One of the most significant incident that we read in the New Testament is when Jesus calmed the raging storm; the apostles were afraid of the storm as Jesus slept in the boat. This was due to their lack of faith for which Jesus admonishes them. In spite of having the Master with them, they doubted.
A pastor related a story of the enactment of this scene for a school play. While all the children vied for important roles of the apostles; a girl offered to be the pillow for Jesus to lay his head on. In her humility and simplicity, she chose the best part.
We too have the Holy Spirit within us at all times; we receive Jesus in Holy Communion. Yet, we sometimes doubt. Our faith is not strong enough. Today, Jesus admonishes us as well for our lack of faith.
I would like to share some of the lessons that life taught me:
The Creator is more significant than the creation.
Life is one big surprise and ever so unpredictable.
I used to believe that in life, time never returns to complete the things left undone. The moment is here and now. But, I was proved wrong. Because, sometimes life does give you a second chance. We have to realize the value of this second chance and make the most of it as life has smiled at us once again.
It is prudent to express the words and feelings in our hearts to the ones we love as they have the right to know how we feel about them.
Love has a way of its own, with its own very set of rules and regulations that come straight from the heart. There is no compromise in love, it is just full fledged.
When we love until it hurts, then we have experienced love in its totality.
When we feel the other’s pain and are unable to soothe it, it hurts us tremendously as well.
Unrequited love hurts a lot.
Silence may be golden but it is killing as well.
There is more fulfillment in consoling others than being consoled.
Power comes from God alone which should never be misused.
Time is the best teacher in life.
Our talents have been given by God to be used for the good of others. Nothing can be attributed to our merits; we have received without cost and we have to give without cost. We should do this in an overwhelming way and with creative passion.
It is only when we desire something and take the necessary steps to achieve it, can our dreams come true.
The past should always be treasured, the present well lived and loved to make beautiful memories for tomorrow.
The day we touch the lives of others in a profound manner is the day we touch the sky.
Always believe in Divine Providence.
The best music to one’s ears is that which comes from the soul.
When we close our eyes and pray to God, it is a personal encounter and we experience Him in a deeper way.
Last but not the least; God is the greatest expert when it comes to ourselves. His opinion matters the most.
