Social Hour

Mom prepared me all day for something special. She trimmed my nails with the noisy stick thing, she cleaned my ears and smelled me a lot to make sure I didn’t stink. I’m a puppy. I don’t stink! I smell good. I especially like the scent of the big run in the middle of the living room. That is where I like to rub after my bath. Thankfully, I didn’t have to have one of those today. Just a “spit shine” mom said.
She also said I was going to have fun tonight. I like fun. I live for fun. I’m five months old, and am a Boston Terrier. I used to have a big yellow dog to play with all the time, named Lucy, but she went away and never came back. I like to play with my grandma’s dog, Skittles. She is a little older than me and really long. She never takes a break. She plays and plays until someone puts her in her crate. Then, I get to take a nap and we start over again, but Grandma lives far away, so I only get to see them once in a while. Mom decided that I needed some playtime and told me we were going to a “social hour” for puppies. So, this is what happened:
Me and Mom were the first ones there. We went to this ladies pet boutique. Her dogs were not very friendly and didn’t want to play with me at all. In fact, they growled at me when I came in the door. But then came Crush and Dave. They were so cool! Pugs they were called and about seven months old. They were HUGE compared to me. Dave didn’t really want to play, but Crush, he liked me. We started sniffing each other and soon we were running around like old pals. It sure was fun to run around and play. Then more dogs started coming in to play. I was excited, but a little scared. I didn’t really know what was going on, but Mom was right there, watching over me, as was a lot of people.
Then, this screamer dog came in. His name was Riley. They called him a doxin. He was long and skinny and he didn’t like anyone! He scared me so bad, I ran to my mom and stayed there. He didn’t yell at me, but they let a pit bull come in which was fine, but it was only supposed to be small dogs and Riley kept yelling at Buddy the pit bull and then he was yelling at everyone. So, I didn’t want to play with anyone anymore.
A little boy came over to play with me and I liked him but none of the other puppies come over to play with me in my corner and I wasn’t going out in the middle. So, I’m not sure about social hour. It wasn’t very fun for me. I really like playing with my mom and dad best of all. Maybe Mom won’t make me go back there again.
