I immediately left my uncle in charge of the cooking food and walked swiftly to the accident scene which was only three doors down from our house. He was lying on the sidewalk unconscious.
Ignoring the crowd that had gathered, I took my son's hand and said "Mother is here, Paul. You're bike threw you and knocked you out. I know you cannot answer me but I know you can hear me." " Now...we are going to try to sit up" and with no forceful help my son sat up. Then I said, "Let's wait a moment and then we will try to stand up". A few seconds later he stood up. I said " Hold it...now let's try to walk". When he took his first step his right leg dragged, so we stopped and as I started to pick him up one of the Fathers in the group offered to carry him to the house and I very gratefully agreed.
After calling the doctor and my husband I took him to the doctor who diagnosed a concussion and told us not to let him go to sleep, that if he did fall asleep to wake him. If he did not wake up get him to the hospital immediately.
He was only about 6 or 7 years of age at that time and now is a grown man with no residual effects.
Paul and I began to discuss this incident recently and I learned something I did not know at first. He told me that he did not remember flying off his bike, but he did remember standing on the curb watching me walking toward him. He described in detail the dress I wore. He saw me kneel down and take his hand. He did not remember much else except when the kind man picked him up and carried him to our house. He actually had an out-of-body experience. Looking back, I would assume that from what he told me, he was more than just unconscious.
I am sharing this with the readers to remind them of how very real our spirits are. When a person is unconscious that person can still hear everything around them so we must be careful of our conversation in these occasions.
This all took place before I had ever had teaching regarding spirit, soul and body. I just KNEW what to do.
Isn't our GOD amazing!!! HE DWELLS IN OUR SPIRIT!!!

What a wonderful story, and how true your comments are. As I get older I know my body is not me! I'm the young person inside. I'm just wearing my body -- which will someday be glorified as one with my spirit, inside! I'll be the guy dancing through the field of flowers! Bill
Wow, and it was a good thing he didn't have a spinal column injury (the pediatric RN is going nuts here)BUT JESUS. Incredible! When you get to heaven maybe the Lord will allow you to see what was happening in the spirit during that time?
